Bringing Waldorf Into Your Home

Christian Waldorf mom Natalie Elpert recently made a list of
decorading ideas to bring Waldorf into your home:

Bathrooms
100% cotton shower curtain-not plastic
Castile soap and handmade soaps
Wooden toilet seats
Cotton or wool floor rugs
Cotton towels & washcloths
Real plant for back of toilet tank
Cover mirror with gauze if you have very young children so they don't get too self-conscious
Otherwise drape gauze artfully around mirror

Bedrooms
100% cotton sheets only
Wool or cotton bedding
Mattress stuffed with wool or cotton - if unaffordable, get a cotton barrier-cloth mattress protector
Air cleaner machine
Natural spectrum lightbulbs
Continue the theme of watercolors in your art - use wooden frames when available
Wooden toys in childrens' bedrooms.

Laundry Room
Wooden dryer rack - use as often as possible instead of electric dryer
Natural laundry detergents, if they give you good results
Use colored gauze and silks to soften corners of your laundry room or arrange artfully on the wall.
Open window (if there is one) in this room for part of the time that you are doing laundry just to air out.

Kitchens
Natural cleansers like baking soda, vinegar, salt, borax, washing soda are a delight to work with.
Earthenware plates
Cloth napkins
Round table (for family unity)
Beeswax candle to light before each meal; prayer before each meal.
Natural, healthy foods, as much as you can afford and/or tolerate!
Slow cooking, like crockpots keep energy usage down, don't overheat kitchen
Limit or don't use microwave
Wooden mixing bowl (nothing like it!!)
An earthenware (or stoneware) pitcher for milk - I am convinced it makes milk taste better!
